Timothy Taylor opened in Mayfair in 1996, in a Georgian townhouse. Its first exhibition, in January 1997, showed new work by Sean Scully, the start of a collaboration that ran to ten solo shows.
Painting sits at the centre of the programme. Jonathan Lasker, Philip Guston, Alex Katz, Kiki Smith, Simon Hantaï and Antoni Tàpies have shaped it over three decades, and the gallery now represents more than twenty artists and estates.

Bolton Street
After years on Carlos Place, the gallery announced in June 2019 its move to 15 Bolton Street, a five-storey Georgian townhouse that it occupies in full. The building gives 4,500 square feet to exhibition space, viewing rooms, offices and storage.

New York followed in 2016 with a ground-floor space in a Chelsea townhouse. In 2023 that moved to a 6,000-square-foot flagship at 74 Leonard Street in Tribeca.
Thirty years
In spring 2026 the London gallery marked its anniversary with 30 Years, bringing new, recent and historic works by represented artists together with paintings by twentieth-century figures it has long shown. For the occasion Scully made a new 70 x 70 cm painting on copper.

The autumn programme continues with Hayal Pozanti: A Dream That Rhymed With Mine, then a presentation of paintings by Pierre Soulages from 5 November to 12 December 2026.
