SpY’s HALOS is a large-scale kinetic installation made for Bright Festival in Florence, Italy, in 2026. A matrix of gold and silver reflective circles hangs in midair and rotates without pause.

The work occupies the atrium at the heart of a former railway factory in the city. The space rises through three levels, and each level gives a different vantage point on HALOS.

The circles are reflective and keep turning, so what they show of the surrounding architecture changes from moment to moment.

Visitors add another variable. Walking the length of the atrium or moving between floors, each person meets a different arrangement of the circles, and the possible readings of HALOS multiply.

HALOS was commissioned by Bright Festival. Images and notes on the project are on SpY’s website.
